Mark of Greatness

The universal quality of greatness is the absolute disinterest in happiness.

When you're pushing for something that matters,

Your own feelings are largely a distraction,

They are nothing but a fly in the cage as you are locked in mortal hand-to-hand combat.

You will notice heroic epics never mark down the state of flies in the arena,

When was the last time you heard a fighter recollect his happiness mid-round

When have you heard a soldier talk about sadness while the bombs dropped over his head

Feelings are UNINTERESTING.

They are unimportant in any serious altercation.

So when I see a CEO get caught bobbing up and down with an old lady at a Coldplay concert,

It's not the fact he's cheating on his wife that stands out,

It's the fact he was willing to spend hours of his time chasing something completely unimportant.

Great men doing great things are too busy for such childish ambitions.

If his company depends on him AT ALL,

His company will go to zero.
